Tree planting program in Philippines

Reforestation programs

Giving back to the environment through tree planting
Since 2001, Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd. has been providing support for tree planting programs in Asia as a way of giving back to the environments where it sources its lumber and wood materials. Since fiscal 2006, the company has enhanced this activity through cooperation with an NPO called Green Solutions. In fiscal 2007, around 80,000 trees were planted on 59.6 hectares of land in Thailand, Indonesia, China, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. This brings the cumulative number of trees the company has planted in these countries to approximately 235,000, covering an area of 167.5 hectares.

TREE PLANTING IN WAKAYAMA PREFECTURE

Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd. participates in and provides support for a corporate reforestation program promoted by Wakayama Prefecture. The program aims to return a cleared mountain forest in Ryujin, Tanabe City, to its natural state. Since April 2007, the company has been seeking volunteers from among its workforce to take part in the program, which is aiming to plant around 45,000 trees over 10 years in a total area of 20 hectares (2 hectares planted annually).
