With 2nd plant of Panasonic Electric Works Electronic Materials (Guangzhou) starting full-scale operation
The second plant of Panasonic Electric Works Electronic Materials (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. for manufacturing Multi-layer printed circuit board materials (hereinafter “Multi-layer laminates”) in Guangzhou, China, which had been under construction since May 2007, will go into full-scale operation after its successful pilot shipment since the end of March.
This full-fledged start of the second plant will double the factory’s production capacity from 2.4 million sq.m / year to 4.8 million sq.m / year to fuel the operation in China.
The enhancement of supply capacity for Multi-layer laminates has been eagerly anticipated in the South China region due to foreseeable increase in demand for automotive and network equipment in addition to digital consumer electronics and cellular phones. The plant will focus on production of high quality and highly reliable products such as high heat-resistant and halogen-free laminates (for environmental friendliness) particularly wanted for automotive and network applications.
With this capacity increase in Guangzhou, the total laminate production capacity of Matsushita Electric Works in the mainland China and Taiwan will be 12 million sq.m / year (1 million sq.m / month) when combined with that of Panasonic Electric Works (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., and Panasonic Electric Works Electronic Materials Taiwan Co., Ltd.
By establishing production system at the point of demand, Matsushita Electric Works plans to achieve finely tuned response to the market to boost the sales of Electronic Materials Business in China from current JPY 26 billion to JPY 38 billion / year in 2010.
